From the first click, the CHI Rocket feels more tool than toy — a compact black body with a satisfying, purposeful weight and a long, salon-style cord that trails behind you like a tether to backstage.

What struck us first wasn’t the heat, but the sound. Instead of the shrill, hair-whipping roar we associate with drugstore dryers, the Rocket emits a lower, more contained whoosh. We could hold conversations with children, listen to a podcast, even let a partner sleep in the next room without the usual noise pollution. The airflow feels dense and controlled rather than chaotic; it moves water off the hair quickly without blasting sections out of your brush.

Tactile details are a mixed bag. The handle has a solid, almost professional-gun feel, and the cool shot button that clicks into place is a small everyday luxury — no more cramped fingers holding a trigger.
