Once it sets, DIPBROW wears impressively from morning to night for most skin types. We wore it through full workdays, humidity, and light sweating without major fading. On very oily skin or if brows are rubbed, edges can soften, but it still outlasts most pencils and powders in its category.

The silicone-wax base gives it strong water and smudge resistance. It stayed put through rain, swimming, and sweat as long as we didn’t actively rub the area. It’s not indestructible—vigorous touching or very oily skin can cause some transfer—but for day-to-day life, it behaves as effectively waterproof and smudge-resistant.

Load the brush lightly, then work the product into the bristles on the cap or back of your hand until it looks almost invisible. Start in the mid-brow and tail, use feather-light strokes, and constantly blend with a spoolie. Reserve whatever is left on the brush for the front of the brow to keep it soft.

Angle the brush so the tip, not the flat edge, touches the skin. Follow your natural hair growth direction with short, flicking motions, lifting the brush at the end of each stroke. We found that using very little product and frequent spoolie passes between strokes gave the most convincing, hair-like effect.

In most cases, no. The pomade dries down to a matte, self-setting finish that doesn’t require additional powder. Some of us liked to layer a clear or tinted brow gel on top to add hold and dimension to longer hairs, but setting powder over the pomade can dull its hair-like texture.

Speed is your friend. Before it fully sets, we used a clean spoolie to diffuse excess or a cotton swab with a touch of makeup remover to sharpen edges. For more dramatic clean-up, a fine brush with a bit of concealer around the brow perimeter instantly refines the shape.

Because shades run deep and pigmented, we recommend going at least one shade lighter than your natural brow hair, especially if you’re fair or medium. Focus on undertone: Taupe and Ash Brown suit cooler, ashy hair; Soft Brown, Chocolate, Caramel, and Auburn flatter warmer or red tones; Ebony and Granite work for very dark hair.

The formula is intensely pigmented and many of the browns lean richer or slightly warmer than their names suggest. Medium Brown and Soft Brown, for example, can read quite deep on fair skin. Using too much product amplifies this effect, so a lighter hand and thorough blending are essential.

Yes, and that’s where it can be transformative. Because it adheres well to bare skin, we were able to sketch entirely new brow shapes and fill in scars. It does require more time and precision—tiny, upward strokes and lots of blending—but the result can be remarkably natural compared to powder alone.

Generally, yes. The creamy formula glides over fine lines without catching or cracking, and the matte finish flatters textured skin. On very textured or dry areas, we found that prepping with a lightweight, fully-absorbed moisturizer or brow primer helped the pomade adhere more evenly.

It performs better than most on oily skin thanks to its waterproof, silicone-wax base. However, very oily foreheads can still cause some softening or smudging, particularly if brows are touched. Using a mattifying primer on the brow area and avoiding heavy oils underneath improved performance for our oiliest testers.

Always close the lid tightly immediately after use and store the pot in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or sunlight. We also found that working off the product on the inside of the cap or back of the hand, rather than swirling in the center of the pot, helped minimize drying and cracking around the edges.

A firmer texture doesn’t mean it’s unusable. Warm a small amount on the back of your hand with gentle pressure until it softens, or briefly warm the closed jar in your hands. Some artists revive very dry product with a drop of mixing medium, but avoid excessive heat, which can permanently alter the formula.

Because it’s waterproof, a regular face wash often isn’t enough. We recommend massaging an oil-based makeup remover or cleansing balm over the brow area for several seconds to break down the film, then emulsifying and rinsing. Follow with your usual cleanser to ensure no residue remains in the hair or pores.

In practice, we found it performs well for roughly 12–18 months after opening if stored correctly and tightly sealed. Signs it’s past its prime include a significantly harder texture, visible cracking, color changes, or an off smell. At that stage, it’s best to replace the jar rather than fight the formula.

Some artists do repurpose it as a soft-focus eyeliner, especially deeper shades like Ebony or Dark Brown. It creates a matte, diffused line that’s less stark than black liner. The brand formulates it for brows, though, so if you use it along the lash line, apply carefully and remove thoroughly at night.
